I have recently discovered that a family relative, died during WW1 serving with the RAF School of Photography. Ernest Alfred Berry is on the CWGC database as E.A. Berry, 2 Lieut., dying on 6th Aug 1918 and is buried at Ocklynge Cemetery (Eastbourne). He seems to be the only officer listed on the database from the RAF School of Photography. Information from these sources – GRO Birth Index; 1871 & 1881 England censuses; CWGC.org; findagrave.com linking to Death Notices, South Africa – show he was BERRY, Ernest Alfred Born on 10th Dec 1870 in Taunton, Somerset. Son of Alfred and Annie. Lived in London and South Africa. Husband of Johanna Jemima Berry (née Minchinton) of Fish Hoek, Cape Town, South Africa. He died at the Eastbourne Central Military Hospital on 6th Aug 1918 and is buried at Ocklynge Cemetery, Eastbourne.
I would be keen to receive any further information on his background, residence in South Africa, RFC/RAF service and details of his demise, that you can supply, Thank you firstname.lastname@example.org
