Derek Booth

He served in the RAF between 1970 – 1993. He joined initially as an Air Phot later transferring to Ground Phot.

He served at Wyton, Cosford, St Athan, Laarbruch, Valley, Rheindalen, Northolt, Gib and finishing his time at what was JSOP.

He then was a civilian photographer at St Athan from 1995 to 2011, later moving to Gibraltar to retire in 2012

So terribly sad. I am setting out to ride to Gib on Tuesday for my annual Spanish Roadtrip and was hoping to catch up with him again. On my last visit to Gib a couple of years ago I had a brilliant evening with him and my biker buddies.

James Mitchell I know Derek from my Gutersloh days ’81-84. I believe he replaced Rick Brewell as Command PR photographer and I saw him on several occasions on photo shoots when he was around my way. Great guy indeed; will be sadly missed. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Dave Whiteman Sorry to hear such sad news Karl, and echo all the above sentiment . Derek picked me up when I flew into RAF Wildenrath in 1983 to start my first Germany tour . He was in RAFG Command PR and I was in 2ATAF PR, so very similar jobs . He took me to my flat at Webschulstrasse in Monchengladbach, where your family also lived , which was very typical of him, always helping others. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him in the trade. Sincere condolences.
