28 May 1935 – 27 March 2022
Roger Williams, Former Photographer / Instructor at Royal Air Force Cosford & Civil Service (M.O.D.)
After a mercifully short battle with cancer, my Dad died in the early hours of this morning.
4 weeks ago, he was a happy normal man who developed a backache which he put down to old age. Within 6 days he was admitted to hospital and a week later he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He dealt with this news the same way he dealt with everything in life, with dignity and humour. He died peacefully in his sleep, 2 weeks after the diagnosis.
Fortunately, after 10 days of Covid, I tested negative yesterday, so I was able to be with him in his final hours.
He was one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever known, kind, caring and a true gentleman.
Often a man of few words, but my Dad’s hand on my shoulder during difficult times spoke a thousand words to me.
He lived a full life and for the last 65 years, my Mum was always by his side.
He will be greatly missed but we will remember the good times and there were lots of them.
RIP Roger, you were indeed a gentle man.

RIP Roger. If it is the Roger that took me in as a Singly in Cyprus in the early 60s for those fantastic Beatles’ weekend parties and gave me my 21st party in Malta, married to lovely Pat, thank you, and it was great to know you. If not, rest in peace.
