It is with great sadness I have to tell you Stan McCarten passed away last week. Stan was one of our dearest friends, he will be missed.
John Stanley McCarten Passed away on the 5th May 2021 He passed away in a care home in Bolton.
Stan was in the RAF as a Ground Photographer for 22 years, serving in Singapore, Germany, and RAF Scampton plus of course other Stations during his long career.
He was 86 and had Alzheimer’s for around the last three or four years, he was in a nursing home in Bolton.
Stan was a member of the RAFPA for many years and along with his wife Pat was a regular attendee at social weekends.
He always went under the name Stan, after his long service with the RAF he joined the police as a police constable with the Met then with latter West Yorkshire Police becoming a police photographic (support staff) officer.

Such sad news. I never worked with Stan, just met him at various get togethers when he was at Wakefield Police, and he always had a great passion for our profession. RIP mate, a real gentleman.
